Arsenal vs Fulham match preview

Arsenal have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 5 league games and Fulham have lost 4 and won 1 of their last 5. The sides met on the opening day of the season and Arsenal won 3-0 in a game that had 3 Arsenal corners, 2 Fulham corners and 2 yellow cards for each team.

After winning away at Liverpool Scott Parker would hoped Fulham could use that as a springboard to launch a real push for survival, but that’s not materialised and they have now lost their last 4 games, with the last 2 defeats being particularly crushing. First they found themselves 1-0 up at Aston Villa with less than 15 minutes to play and somehow managed to lose 3-1, and then they conceded an injury time winner against wolves in their last game. Arsenal have been scoring goals lately and actually average 2 goals per game in their last 8 league games, having scored 4 against Leeds, 3 against Leicester, West Ham and Sheffield United and then 2 against Spurs. Fulham do have some hope though as Arsenal have been pretty poor at the back in recent games and their clean sheets against Sheffield United in their last game was their first in their last 10 league games, and in those 10 games they have conceded an average of 1.50 goals per game. Arsenal’s goals scoring form will be a worry for Fulham side who have conceded 9 goals in their last 4 league games.

Any goals bets in this game will likely revolve around Arsenal as Fulham cannot be relied on to score. The current form of both sides suggest a strong chance that Arsenal will score at least 2 goals, which will see them get the win as its difficult to see Fulham scoring 1 goal but they have only scored more than 1 goal in 2 of their last 22 league games. Whilst we say Fulham cannot be relied on to score, they are playing an Arsenal side who have been pretty shocking at the back in recent games and you may get some value backing both teams to score or Arsenal to win and both teams to score. These bets obviously carry more risk but Fulham have to score and Arsenal have found clean sheets very hard to come by. So it wouldn’t be a massive shock to see both teams score, and both teams to score and Arsenal to win may offer a decent alternative if you are looking for a bit more value.

Fulham have taken at least 3 corners in all of their last 13 league games and they average 5 corners per game in those 13 games. Given Fulham’s current situation they have to get forward and try to score goals which should lead to more corners. Arsenal have taken 3 or more corners in 16 of their last 18 league games, with the inky 2 games where they didn’t take at least 3 corners coming against Liverpool and Man City. They average 4.77 corners per game in their last 18 league games. Corners don’t look a bad bet here as Fulham have been pretty consistent all season and have taken 3 or more corners in 78.12% of their league games this season. Arsenal have taken 3 or more in 87.09% of their league games. So it looks likely both teams will take at least 3 corners here.

Arsenal have been given exactly 1 card in all of their last 6 league games and Fulham have been given at least 1 card in 10 of their last 12 league games and they average 1.41 yellow cards per game in those games. Fulham have been given no cards in 2 of their last 4 league games and 5 of the last 10 Fulham league games have finished with under 30 match booking points. So despite Fulham being in a desperate situation that hasn’t translated into producing games with allot of cards, and whilst it would be no surprise to see a couple of bookings here, the stats are not strong enough for us to confidently back a cards bet here.

The best bets in this game are

Arsenal to score 2+ goals

Arsenal to win and both teams to score

3+ corners each team

Man United vs Burnley match preview

United have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games and Burnley have drawn 3, won 1 and lost 1 of their last 5. Man United win the reverse fixture 1-0 and that game had 3 Burnley corners, 4 Man United corners, 1 Burnley yellow card and 2 Man United yellow cards.

Burnley have found some goal scoring form lately and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. The reason they have only won 1 of those games is that they have conceded 12 goals in their last 6 league games. Man United have scored 8 goals in their last 4 league games and have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 15 league games. Burnley have now scored in 10 of their last 14 league games but with man United defensive record it does look risky to bank on Burnley to score here. We believe with goals the smartest bet is to stick to over 1.5 as both teams to score and over 2.5 are too risky as 5 of the last 8 United league games ended under 2.5 goals and 7 of their last 12 Burnley league games ended under 2.5 goals as well. Also Burnley will see a point as a good result as right now they are 7 points clean of the drop and a point goes a long way to them in their quest to avoid being dragged in to a real relegation dog fight.

Burnley average 5.70 corners per game in their last 10 league games and Man United average 5.46 corners per game in their last 13 legaue games. Man United will likely control possession and territory for long periods so if backing corners the best bet may be to back total match corners as Burnley will likely find their opportunities to win corners more limited than they would against other opposition. Its worth noting than Burnley took just 2 corners or less against Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool who they played in their last 14 league games. So when they play a top 6 side they don’t always deliver on the corner front. So total match corners would be the smart play.

Burnley have been given no cards in their last 3 league games and Burnley opponents have been given no cards in the last 3 Burnley league games. United have picked up an average if 3.50 yellow cards per game in their last 4 league games, though the bulk of those cards came against Man City, Spurs and Brighton, so we feel those stats have to be taken with a pinch of salt and we don’t expect this game to be quite as good for cards as those were. In fact we don’t recommend backing cards here as whilst United will want to win its not a must win game by any stretch and Burnley won’t ming a slow game where they can almost stumble their way to a point.

Ita a difficult game to weigh up as I really think this could be quite a slow and boring game with Burnley seeing a point as a good result and they will likely sit deep and let United on to them. United have struggled against teams who have sat back and much prefer playing sides who get forward as this creates the opportunities for counter attacks. We don’t think they will get this against Burnley tonight and it may turn into a case if 11 men behind the ball with United struggling to unlock the stubborn Burnley defence. We could be completely wrong as recent stats suggest we could see allot of goals, corners and cards. I feel there is a good chance Man United could win 1-0 or 2-0 and that’s probably the right way to play this game with smaller stakes on bigger odds selections.

The best bets in this game are

Man United to win 1-0

Man United to win 2-0
