Barrow vs Southend match preview

Barrow have managed to avoid an anxious last couple of league games and have done enough to be safe. Southend need a miracle with them having to win their last 2 league games, hope that either Colchester or Scunthorpe lose both of theirs and Southend would need to improve their goal difference by somewhere between 8-12 goals to have any chance.

Barrow have won 7 of their last 14 league games and in those 14 games they scored an average of 1.28 goals per game. Barrow have conceded in 10 of their last 11 league games and they conceded an average of 1.36 goals per game in those 11 games. Southend have failed to score in 10 of their last 14 league games and have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 18 league games. Given the fact Barrow can now play with freedom and Southend have to score multiple goals it would be no surprise to see this game produce goals bit with stats like Southend have its a bet that you would have to make more in hope than expectation.

Southend average 3.69 corners per game in their last 13 league games and Barrow only average 3.77 corners per game in their last 9 league games. So whilst it’s a similar market to goals in the way that both teams having more corners in this game wouldn’t be a surprise, it’s not a bet that you can make will full confidence, especially as the season stats on corners for these two teams are not overly impressive.

Barrow have been given an average of 2 yellow cards per game in their last 7 league games and Southend have been given an average of 2.16 yellow cards per game in their last 12 league games. We feel the Barrow stats should be taken with a pinch of salt as with them now safe from relegation it wouldn’t be a surprise to see their card averages drop in these last 2 league games as their games don’t carry as much importance now. Southend is a funny one as well as allot could depend on whether they genuinely believe they can avoid relegation and the intensity that they approach this game with. So the stats suggest a very good chance that both teams pick up a card or 2 and the game has 30+ match booking points, though its worth remembering that situation that both teams are in and that should be taken into consideration with your bets.

Bolton vs Exeter match preview

A win for Bolton will guarantee them automatic promotion and Exeter find themselves 2 points off the play-offs right now so know that they need to win this game to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Bolton have scored in 21 of their last 23 league games and scored an average of 1.26 goals per game in those 23 games. Bolton have kept 10 clean sheets in their last 16 league games. Exeter have failed to score in 5 of their last 8 league games and have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 15 league games. A really interesting game here as both sides, especially Bolton, have been solid defensively and with their scoring record they know that 1 more clean sheet is highly likely to see them playing in League 1 next season. Exeter have been struggling for goals just at the time when they need them most. They put 4 past 2nd placed Cambridge in a recent game and 3 past Grimsby in their last game but they don’t convince as a team to rely on to score, even though they have to.

Bolton have only scored more than 2 goals in 1 of their last 24 league games, and we feel there is a good chance that Bolton win this game 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.

Both sides have taken 3 or more corners in 84.09% of their league games this season. Bolton have taken 3 or more corners in 29 of their last 30 league games and they average 5.30 corners per game in those last 30 games. Exeter average 6.40 corners per game in their last 5 league games and have taken 3 or more corners in 19 of their last 23 league games. There looks a very high chance that both teams take at least 3 corners.

Exeter only average 1.07 yellow cards per game in their last 14 league games and Bolton only average 0.95 yellow cards per game in their last 21 league games. With both teams having a lot to play for it wouldn’t be a surprise to see cards in this game just the stats suggest that cards are a risky bet.

The best bets in this game are

Bolton to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

Bradford vs Scunthorpe match preview

Bradford find themselves safe with the play-offs out of reach but for Scunthorpe the game is much more important as a single point for them will be enough to see them safe from relegation.

Scunthorpe have lost their last 5 and failed to score in their last 3. Bradford have lost their last 5 and failed to score in 3 of those 5 league games. These two sides are both out of form and backing goals or the result is not a very appealing proposition.

Scunthorpe average just 2.50 corners per game in their last 4 league games and Bradford only average 3.55 corners per game in their last 29 league games. So corners looks a risky market with these two sides.

Bradford have been given at least 1 card in 20 of their last 21 league games and they average 1.85 yellow cards per game in those 21 games. Scunthorpe average 1.50 yellow cards per game in their last 8 league games. Cards wouldn’t be a surprise especially for Scunthorpe as they only need 1 point to guarantee their safety and you have to think their players will be massively fired up for this and any attacking from Bradford the Scunthorpe players will likely not think twice about breaking it up with a foul. The stats don’t suggest Scunthorpe are a team to rack up a big number of cards but it wouldn’t be a shock to see them pick up a couple of cards.

There is no standout bet in this game but given the circumstances it would be no surprise to see Scunthorpe pick up a couple of cards.

Colchester vs Salford match preview

Colchester need just 1 point to guarantee their safety in league 2 for another season and Salford find themselves in the final play-off position and know that if they don’t win this game they will be very lucky to still have their fate in their own hands on the final day on the season.

Colchester have scored in 4 of their last 5 league games and they scored an average of 1.40 goals per game in those 5 games. Colchester have failed to score in 15 of their last 25 league games and no one has conceded fewer goals in league 2 this season than Salford, so you really can’t be confident that Colchester will score. We feel there is a good chance that Salford win this game 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.

Colchester are inconsistent with corners and have taken no corners in 2 of their last 7 league games, but then have taken 8 or 9 corners in 2 of those last 7 games as well. Salford are not one of the bigger corner stat teams in the league either and they average just 4.14 corners per game in their last 7 league games. Given that Salford are average at best and Colchester are very unpredictable, we feel it’s a risky market to be backing here.

Colchester have been given at least 1 card in 86.36% of their league games this season and Salford in 81.81% of theirs. Colchester have been given at least 1 card in 9 of their last 11 league games and they average 1.36 yellow cards per game in those 11 games. Salford have been given at least 1 card in 16 of their last 18 league games and they average 1.88 yellow cards per game in those 18 games. So the stats are promising but it’s really the situation that both teams are in that helps us believe cards is a good bet. Colchester only need a draw and it’s job done, Salford know a draw could be very costly and need to win this game. With both teams having it all to play for we have ti believe both teams will be fired up and there are bound to be challenges and moments where that can boil over and lead to cards. Its highly likely both teams pick up at least 1 card and the games has 30+ match booking points. At bigger odds a bet like 20+ booking points each team would have a chance with these 2 sides in a game like this.

The best bets in this game are

Salford to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

30+ match booking points

20+ booking points each team

Forest Green vs Tranmere match preview

A crucial game with a draw for Tranmere enough to guarantee them a spot in the play-offs and Forest Green find themselves just outside the play-offs right now and need a win this weekend to have any chance of ending the day in a play-off spot with their fate in their hands going into the final day.

Forest Green have failed to score in their last 3 league games and 7 of their last 10. Forest Green have conceded in 11 of their last 14 league games and they conceded an average of 1.50 goals per game in their last 14 league games. Tranmere have failed to score in 4 of their last 7 league games and have kept 3 clean sheets in a row. Number of goals is a very risky market on current form.

Forest Green have only won 1 of their last 1p league games and Tranmere have only lost 4 of their last 25 league games. Given that a draw for Tranmere will almost guarantee a spot in the play-offs as well, we feel it’s a good bet that Tranmere will not lose this game, so Tranmere/draw double chance is a good bet.

Forest Green average 10.25 corners per game in their last 4 league games and have taken 4 corners or more in 11 of their last 12 league games. Tranmere have taken 3 or more corners in 12 of their last 14 league games and they average 5.21 corners per game In those 14 league games. The season stats on corners are strong as well so there is a very good chance that both teams take at least 3 corners in this game.

Tranmere have been given at least 1 card in 24 of their last 25 league games and they average 1.64 yellow cards per game in those last 25 games. Forest Green have been given at least 1 card in 17 of their last 19 league games and they average 1.68 yellow cards per game in those last 19 games. The circumstances both teams find themselves in also suggest cards will be a good bet here and it’s highly likely both teams pick up at least 1 card and the game has 30+ booking points.

Grimsby vs Port Vale match preview

Grimsby are relegated and Port Vale find the play-offs out of reach despite winning 8 of their last 9 league games.

We can keep this wrote up short as with 2 sides that technically have nothing to play for it’s not an appealing game from a betting angle. Recent form suggests that Port Vale are going to win this game quite comfortably but the fact that both sides know their fate this season already means it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this game lack intensity and end up a pretty dull affair. Of course it could the opposite way with both sides playing with freedom but that’s not a gamble we are going to take.

This is not a game that appeals for any bets.

Leyton Orient vs Carlisle match preview

Both sides look to have fallen just short of reaching the play-offs with Leyton Orient in an impossible position and Carlisle needing to win both their games and get multiple favours from other sides.

Orient have scored in 9 of their last 11 league games and they scored an average of 1.27 goals per game in those last 11 games. Leyton Orient have conceded in 4 of their last 5 league games and they conceded an average of 1.80 goals per game in those last 5 league games, but Orient have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 19 league games so aren’t a bad side defensively. Carlisle have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 league games and have now drawn 5 of their last 6 league games. Goals is a tricky market as neither side has been scoring allot of goals in recent games and neither of them are mugs defensively. We can’t say their won’t be goals but it does look a risky bet on current form.

Both sides have taken 3 or more corners in 88.63% of their league games. Carlisle have taken 3 or more corners in 16 of their last 19 league games and they average 5.63 corners per game in those last 19 league games. Leyton Orient have taken 3 or more corners in 15 of their last 17 league games but they only average 4.47 corners per game in those games and have definitely seen a drop in number of corners in recent games. There is a still a good chance that both teams take at least 3 corners, just Leyton Orients recent form does add some doubt to what would otherwise be a very strong bet.

Orient have been given no cards in 2 of their last 3 league games and whilst Carlisle are more consistent we don’t feel cards is an angle to be backing in this one. The stats suggest cards wouldn’t be a surprise but given that both teams know their fate and the game doesn’t have a massive deal riding on it, I wouldn’t expect this to be played at a hgih intensity and produce lots of cards.

The best bet in this game is 3+ corners each team.

Mansfield vs Oldham match preview

A game that has nothing major riding on it, with both sides guaranteed to be playing league 2 football next season.

Mansfield have failed to score in 9 of their also 17 league games. Oldham have caught fire with goals in recent games and have scored an average of 3.75 goals per game in their last 4 league games. Oldham have conceded in 6 of their last 7 league games and they conceded an average of 1.57 goals per game in those 7 games. Goals is a tricky market as Oldham have been on fire but Mansfield games have been low on games with 13 of the last 16 Mansfield league games ending with 2 goals or less.

It could be a thriller with both sides letting loose and Oldham’s recent form suggests that is a possibility, but it’s not a bet we would make in a dead rubber game like this.

The corner and card stats are both promising and suggest that we could have enough action to cover bets on both. Just with this game we have no idea how things will play out with both sides potentially trying new tactics or patterns of play. Whilst the stats are good they don’t point to any banker bet and with the game not having a great deal riding on it, we feel it could be a pretty slow game that’s played at a low intensity with neither side needing to bring any urgency to proceedings.

Newport vs Cheltenham match preview

Cheltenham are guaranteed automatic promotion and now have all eyes on winning the league. Newport are in the play-offs though have a line of teams behind them all waiting for them to slip up, though a draw fir Newport would be enough for them to go into the final day with their fate in their own hands.

Newport have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 league games, but scored 6 goals in the other 2 games and they have scored in 79.54% of their league games this season. Newport have kept 3 clean sheets in a row. Cheltenham have scored in 13 of their last 16 league games and they scored an average of 1.25 goals per game in those games. Cheltenham have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 16 league games.

Goals is a tricky market as Cheltenham are consistent but not big scorers and Newport have been slightly inconsistent lately, but showed that they can score goals by putting 4 last Scunthorpe in their last game. Neither side are bad defensively and that just makes it an even harder market to predict.

The season stats on corners and cards suggest both markets are risky and there is nothing in the recent form that changes our mind. Cheltenham have taken just 2 corners in 2 of their last 3 league games and ended with no cards in 2 of their last 3 league games. Newport have been better in recent games but we wouldn’t trust them to cover a bet by themselves so we would not look to get involved in either market.

It’s a very interesting game and could be great ti watch, but in terms of bets it’s a very tricky puzzle to work out and we feel there are better bets to be had elsewhere this weekend.

Stevenage vs Crawley match preview

Both sides find themselves comfortably in mid table with no possibility of relegation or promotion for either.

Stevenage have lost 3 of their last 4 league games but have had a good 2nd half of the season which has seen them lose just 3 of their last 16 league games. Crawley have failed to score in 5 of their last 8 league games and have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 league games. Stevenage only score an average of 0.92 goals per game in their last 14 league games. So even with both teams being able to play with freedom, it’s not a game that suggests goals is a good bet.

Crawley have taken just 1 corner in 2 of their last 3 league games and in the other they took no corners. Stevenage are better for corners but we wouldn’t trust them to cover a bet on their own.

Stevenage have been given no cards in their last 2 league games and whilst Crawley are better with cards, we don’t feel it’s a game to go all in on cards with neither side having anything major to play for and the stats also suggesting it’s an angle to be careful of anyway.

Walsall vs Morecambe match preview

A point for Morecambe would guarantee them a play-off spot but assuming no ridiculous turn of events they look safe in the play-offs and they are 4 points off automatic promotion. Walsall are safe and will be playing in League 2 next season.

Walsall have failed to score in 7 of their last 14 league games and have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 7 league games. Morecambe have scored in 16 of their last 19 league games and they scored an average of 1.63 goals per game in those 19 games. Despite failing to score in their last league game, Morecambe have scored 3 or more goals in 3 of their last 4 league games. Morecambe have conceded in 17 of their last 20 league games and they conceded an average of 1.30 goals per game in those 20 games.

Walsall can’t be relied on to score though Morecambe’s defensive record does suggest they will have opportunities. 8 of the last 16 Walsall league games ended with just 1 goal or no goals, and with stats like that we can’t confidently back any goals bet in this game.

Walsall only average 3.35 corners per game in their last 14 league games and have been given no cards in 2 of their last 4 league games. With corners Morecambe are better but we wouldn’t trust them to cover a bet on their own and then with cards Morecambe are also quite weak and have been given no cards in 4 of their last 8 league games.

There is no standout bet in this game.
