Bournemouth vs Middlesbrough match preview

Middlesbrough have won 3 and lost 2 of their last 5 league games and Bournemouth have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 5 league games. The reverse fixture ended 1-1 with 7 corners for each team, 2 Bournemouth yellow cards and 1 Middlesbrough yellow card.

Middlesbrough on the season as a whole haven’t been overly impressive in any of the goals markets, but they have now scored in 10 of their last 11 league games, scoring ana average if 1.45 goals per game in those games, and they have conceded in 15 of their last 19 league games, conceding an average of 1.31 goals per game in those games. Bournemouth have scored in 11 of their last 12 league games and they have scored an average of 1.41 goals per game in those 12 games. Bournemouth have conceded in 11 of their last 15 league games and have conceded an average of 1.26 goals per game in those last 15 games.

On recent form both teams to score looks to have a good chance. Both teams have scored in 7 of the last 11 Middlesbrough league games and both teams have scored in 8 of the last 12 Bournemouth league games. We wouldn’t go over 2.5 goals as it would be no surprise if this finished 1-1, but both teams to score and over 1.5 goals in particular both look good bets.

Bournemouth have taken 3 or more corners in 94.59% of their league games this season and Middlesbrough have taken 3 or more corners in 84.22% of their league games. Bournemouth have taken 3 or more corners in 21 of their last 22 league games and all of their last 9 league games. Middlesbrough have taken 3 or more corners in 15 of their last 18 league games and they have taken an average of 6.22 corners per game in those last 18 league games. Middlesbrough have been a little bit less consistent on corners, but Bournemouth have given away 4 corners or more in all of their last 6 league games and they gave away an average of 5.16 corners per game in those last 6 games.

The smart play with corners may be to look at total match corners being 8/9 or above. As 3+ corners each team does have risks attached with Middlesbrough being hit and miss on corners. In their last 6 league games Middlesbrough have taken just 2 corners twice, and then they have taken 11 corners in two separate games. So, the best play will be 8/9 total match corners and there is a good chance that the game will push into double figures.

Bournemouth have been given at least 1 card in 86.48% of their league games played this season and Middlesbrough have been given at least 1 card in 78.94% of their league games. Middlesbrough have been given at least 1 card in 22 of their last 25 league games played and they were given an average of 1.56 yellow cards per game in those 25 games. Middlesbrough opponents have been given at least 1 card in all of the last 11 Borough league games and they were given an average of 1.63 yellow cards per game in those games.

Bournemouth have been given at least 1 card in 19 of their last 21 league games and they were given an average of 1.19 yellow cards per game in those last 21 games. Bournemouth’s opponents have been given at least 1 card in 10 of the last 12 Bournemouth league games and they were given an average of 2.16 yellow cards per game in those games. Bournemouth’s opponents have been given 2 or more cards in 12 of the last 16 Bournemouth league games.

Carss don’t look a bad bet as the stats suggest a good chance both teams will pick up at least 1 card and the game will have at least 3.

Bristol City vs Stoke match preview

Bristol City have lost 3, won 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games and Stoke have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games.

Both sides have been on the lower end for the foals averages all season and recent form doesn’t give us any reason to go against the season stats so goals is a no go for this game.

Bristol City have been low on corners all season and in their last 14 league games they average just 2.78 corners per game. Stoke are better but still only average just 4 corners per game in their last 6 league games. So, there is nothing on corners either.

The season stats don’t suggest Bristol City are a team to back bookings with but in their last 11 league games they have been given at least 1 card in 10 of those games and they average 1.90 yellow cards per game in those games. Bristol City’s opponents have also been given at least 1 card in 10 of their last 11 league games and they were given an average of 1.72 yellow cards per game in those games. Stoke have been given at least 1 card in 94.73% of their league games played this season and they have been given at least 1 card in 12 of their last 13 games, averaging 1.61 yellow cards per game in those last 13 games.

So, whilst booking is not a banker by any means, on current form it would be no surprise to see both teams pick up a booking and the game to have 30+ match booking points.

Cardiff vs Nottingham Forest match preview

Cardiff have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 5 league games and Forest have lost 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 league games. Cardiff won 2-0 when the sides met earlier in the season in a game with 2 Cardiff corners, 9 Forest corners and no bookings for either side.

There are no standout bets from looking at the season goal stats. The last 10 Forest league games have seen a combined total of just 13 goals with 6 of those games finishing with just 1 goal or no goals at all. Cardiff have scored in 12 of their last 14 league games and they scored an average of 1.78 yellow cards per game in those last 14 games. Forest Defensively are no mugs though and have only conceded an average of 0.69 goals per game in their last 13 league games. So, we are sitting out goals in this one.

The corners also don’t have a standout bet and the fact Cardiff average just 2.83 corners per game in their last 6 league games doesn’t fill us with confidence. Forest have been better but still only average 3.33 corners per game in their last 3 league games. So, on current form corners is a no go for betting purposes in this game.

Forest have ended with no cards in 3 of their last 6 league games and whilst Cardiff have been more consistent, 5 of the last 9 Cardiff league games have still finished under 30 match booking points, so there’s no standout bet from corners either.

A game with no standout bet that we are happy to watch from the side-lines and not get involved.

Derby vs Luton match preview

Derby have lost 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 league games and Luton have won 3 and lost 2 of their last 5. Luton won the reverse fixture 2-1 in a game that had 4 Luton corners, 5 Derby corners and 2 Luton yellow cards.

Goals are impossible to back with confidence. Derby have failed to score in 5 of their last 6 league games and only score an average of 0.71 goals per game. Luton only score an average of 0.83 goals per game this season and they have failed to score in 12 of their last 24 league games.

We can keep this short as the season stats are uninspiring and recent form doesn’t offer us anything either. So, this is a game where we would recommend not having a bet.

Millwall vs Rotherham match preview

Rotherham have lost 3 and won 2 of their last 5 league games and Millwall have won 3 and lost 2 of their last 5. The reverse fixture ended 1-0 to Millwall with 3 Millwall corners, 8 Rotherham corners, 2 Millwall yellow cards and 1 Rotherham yellow card.

There is no standout goals bet from looking at the season stats. Rotherham have scored in their last 3 league games, but they have failed to score in 4 of their last 7 league games so are yet to convince that they can be relied on to produce goals. Millwall have scored in 6 of their last 8 league games but they only scored an average of 1 goal per game in those 8 games. So, there is nothing to take with goals.

Millwall have had 2 corners or less in 4 of their last 9 league games and they only average 3.11 corners per game in those last 9 games. Rotherham are too inconsistent to back with confidence on corners. In their last 8 league games they have hit double digits in corners twice but then they have had 2 corners or less in 2 games as well. Their season stats are not strong enough for us to ignore their inconsistencies or Millwall’s recent corner form, so we are sitting corners out here.

Millwall have been given at least 1 card in 76.31% of their league games this season and Rotherham have been given at least 1 card in 91.17% of their league games. Millwall have been given at least 1 card in 11 of their last 12 league games and they average 1.25 yellow cards per game in those last 12 games. Millwall’s opponents have been given at least 1 card in all of their last 9 league games and they average 1.66 yellow cards per game in those games. Rotherham have been given at least 1 card in 9 of their last 11 league games and they average 1.54 yellow cards per game in those last 11 games. Rotherham’s opponents have been given no cards in 5 of their last 8 league games.

Bookings is a tough one, but we are going to sit it out. 4 of the last 6 Millwall games finished under 30 match booking points and 4 of the last 8 Rotherham games have finished under 30 match booking points.

Another game with no standout bet and whilst bookings look the best angle it’s not strong enough for us to back with confidence. So, we are going to sit this one out.

Preston vs Norwich match preview

Norwich have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games and Preston have lost 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games. The reverse fixture ended in a 2-2 draw in a game that saw 9 Preston corners, 4 Norwich corners, 2 Preston yellow cards and 1 Norwich yellow card.

Straight away the clear and obvious bet is Norwich to win. Preston have failed to score in all of their last 3 league games and in 10 of their last 16 league games. Against a Norwich defence that has kept 9 clean sheets in their last 14 league games it appears that just 1 goal would likely be enough for Norwich to get the win here. Whilst Preston is far from solid at the back, they are not the type of team who concede allot of goals on a regular basis and Norwich don’t always blow teams away, so we believe there is a good chance that this will end in a low scoring Norwich win either 1-0 or 2-0.

Preston have been pretty low on the corners and cards average all season and their recent form doesn’t suggest those average are going to change much in the back end of the season. Norwich are consistent with corners but hardly prolific and we believe that takes corners off the table as a potential bet as there is a good chance that Norwich would have to do the majority of the work should we look at a total match corners bet.

Preston have been given no cards in 4 of their last 9 league games and Norwich have been given no cards in 2 of their last 4 league games. The booking stats are not strong so it’s not an angle we are going to play here.

The potential bets on this game are

Norwich to win

Norwich to win to nil

Norwich to win 2-0

QPR have won 3, lost 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games and Coventry have lost 2, drawn 2 and won 1 of their last 5 league games. The reverse fixture was won 3-2 by Coventry with 7 Coventry corners, 4 QPR corners, 1 Coventry yellow card and 2 QPR yellow cards.

We can keep this write up very short as there are no standout bets looking at the season stats and recent form doesn’t give us much confidence in any angle.

So, this is a game where we would recommend not having a bet.

Watford vs Sheffield Wednesday match preview

Watford have won all of their last 5 league games and Sheffield Wednesday have lost 3, won 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5. It ended 0-0 when the sides met earlier in the season in a game that had 2 Wednesday corners, 8 Watford corners and 2 yellow cards for each team.

Watford to win is the bet that jumps off the page straight away. Sheffield Wednesday have lost 7of their last 9 league games and Watford have won all their last 5 and 9 of their last 10. Watford have scored an average of 2.40 goals per game in their last 10 league games and Sheffield Wednesday have conceded at least 1 goal in all of their last 9 league games and they conceded an average of 1.88 goals per game in those games.

So, it looks highly likely Watford will win and score a couple of goals at least.

Corners looks a tricky market as Sheffield Wednesday are not exactly on the high end of the corner averages and it’s a game where Watford will likely control possession and territory for long periods so chances fir Wednesday corners may be limited. We would normally look at Watford to have more corners as a bet, but Sheffield Wednesday have had some spikes in recent games where they hit at least 7 corners and Watford have had some lower days lately where they only take 3 or 4 corners which is below their usual standard. Watford also can give away allot of corners in a single game as Derby had 10 against them, Blackburn and Nottingham Forest both had 7 and these games all came in the last 8 Watford league games.

So corner is an angle we are happy to leave.

Watford average 1.76 yellow cards per game this season and Wednesday average 1.59 yellow cards per game. Watford have been given at least 1 card in 84.21% of their league games this season and Wednesday have been given at least 1 card in 91.89% of their league games. From the season stats it looks highly likely that both teams will pick up at least 1 card, but we are happy to leave that bet here. 3 of the last 5 Watford league games ended with under 30 match booking points, and 2 of those games actually ended with no cards at all. Sheffield Wednesday have been given no yellow cards in 5 of their last 17 games, and although they were given red cards in a couple of those games, we can’t rely on a red card here. So, bookings is an angle where it wouldn’t be a shock to see both teams pick up a card, just we can’t recommend it with full confidence here.

The possible bets in this game are

Watford to win and Watford to score 2+ goals

Wycombe vs Blackburn match preview

Blackburn have drawn 3, won 1 and lost 1 of their last 5 league games and Wycombe have lost 3, won 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5. Blackburn thumped Wycombe 5-0 when the sides met earlier this season in a game that had 12 Blackburn corners, 3 Wycombe corners, 1 Wycombe yellow card and 1 Wycombe red card.

Wycombe have failed to score in 9 of their last 14 league games and have kept 2 clean sheets in their last 3 league games. Blackburn have failed to score in 2 of their last 3 and have kept 2 clean sheets in their last 5 games. Neither of these sides but Wycombe in particular can be relied on to score goals. Blackburn are more consistent and have scored in 71.05% of their league games played this season, but they only score an average of 0.84 goals per game in their last 19 league games and have not scored more than 2 goals in any of their last 25 league games.

Wycombe are terrible and allot of people may look at Blackburn to win as a smart bet, but Blackburn have only won 1 of their last 12 league games, so can’t exactly be relied on to grind out a win. So, goals and match result are markets we would avoid.

The season stats on cards and corners don’t point to a standout bet and recent form doesn’t offer much either. It’s not a game where we could back anything with confidence, so we are happy to leave this match alone.

Barnsley vs Reading match preview

Reading have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 5 league games and Barnsley have won 3, drawn 1 and lose 1 of their last 5. Reading won the reverse fixture 2-0 and the game had 5 Barnsley corners, 6 Reading corners, 2 Barnsley yellow cards, 1 Reading yellow card and 2 Barnsley red cards.

When you look at the season stats on Barnsley, they don’t look like a team who you can rely on with goals, but they have now scored in 10 of their last 11 league games and they scored an average of 1.81 goals per game in those last 11 games. Reading have scored in 78.94% of their league games this season and have scored in all of their last 6 games. Barnsley have kept 6 clean sheets in their last 12 league games and Reading have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 17 games.

Goals is a tricky one as both teams have proven they can keep clean sheets and neither of these sides could be considered bankers for scoring goals. That being said we feel both teams to score has a good chance when you look at Reading’s season stats and the recent form of Barnsley.

Reading have been low in terms of corners and cards all season, they have got better with corners recently though. Barnsley average 6.08 corners a game in their last 12 league games and they have only given away an average of 3.70 corners per game in their last 10 league games. Reading have given away an average of 5.38 corners per game in their last 13 league games and have taken an average of 6 corners per game in their last 9 league games. We feel the play with corners is total match corners as whilst it looks likely that both teams will take at least 3, if you look at Reading, they have only taken 3 or more corners in 68.42% of their league games this season. So, the best play with corners is total match corners as its highly likely we have 8/9 corners, and the game could be pushing towards double figures.

As we have already pointed out Reading have been low on cards all season and unlike corners, they have not picked up in recent games with them being given no cards in any of their last 3 league games. Barnsley are allot more consistent, but any bookings bet in this game may as well be a bet on Barnsley booking points as you can’t count on Reading to contribute at all. Bookings is an angle we are going to leave with this game.

The possible bets in this game are

Over 1.5 goals

Both teams to score

Over 8/9 total match corners

Birmingham vs Swansea match preview

Swansea have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league games and Birmingham have lost 3, drawn 1 and won 1 of their last 5 league games. The reverse fixture ended 0-0 with 8 Birmingham corners, 5 Swansea corners and 1 Birmingham yellow card.

Swansea have lost their last 2 games without scoring but those were to 7th and 8th placed sides Bournemouth and Cardiff and they now face a Birmingham side who are in a relegation fight and have lost 7 of their last 11 games. Birmingham have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 league games. Birmingham have conceded in all of their last 7 league games, and they conceded an average of 1.85 goals per game in those last 7 games. Swansea have been solid at the back all season but have slipped in recent games as they have now conceded in 7 of their last 9 league games and they conceded an average of 1.55 goals per game in those 9 games.

We will keep it simple here and say Swansea to win is the play. We would normally look at Swansea to win to nil, but they have slipped defensively in recent games and despite Birmingham failing to score in 3 of their last 4 games, they have scored in 5 of their last 8 league games. So, Swansea to win is the best bet here.

Birmingham have taken 3 or more corners in 81.57% of their league games this season and Swansea have taken 3 or more in 83.78% of their games. Birmingham only average 3.80 corners per game in their last 5 league games and Swansea average 5 corners per game in their last 6 league games. Though with Swansea it is worth noting that they have had 18 corners in their last 2 league games which has heavily boosted their average in recent games and in the other 4 games out of those last 6 they only average 3 corners a game. Birmingham have only given away an average of 3.50 corners per game in their last 4 league games. So, despite some quite strong season stats we are going to let corners go without a bet here as there are doubts about both sides recent form from the corner flag.

Birmingham have been given at least 1 card in 86.84% of their league games played this season and Swansea in 83.78% of their league games. Birmingham have been given at least 1 card in all of their last 16 league games and they were given an average of 2 yellow cards per game in those last 16 games. Swansea have been given no cards in their last 2 games, but they have been given at least 1 card in 25 of their last 27 league games and they average 1.66 yellow cards per game in those games. So, the play with cards is 30+ match booking points as we wouldn’t want to take a bet that requires both teams to get a player carded due to Swansea ending with no cards in their last 2 league games.

The potential bets on this game are Swansea to win and 30+ match booking points.
