Newport vs Scunthorpe match preview

Newport have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 league games and have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 4 league games. Scunthorpe have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 league games. There is allot to play for in this game with Newport needing a win to get back in the play off spots and a win for Scunthorpe would move them out of the relegation zone, but both teams have been dealing with this pressure in their last few games and both have been struggling for goals.

Scunthorpe have taken 2 corners or less in 9 of their last 19 league games. Newport can be inconsistent with corners as in their last 5 league games they have taken 0 corners in a game, just 1 corner in another game and then they took 7 corners or more in each of the other 3 games. Even with the season statistics Newport are no banker for corners, and even though they average over 5 corners per game this season, they can’t be trusted to hit that average and even if they did it wouldn’t cover a bet should Scunthorpe only take 1 or 2.

The season booking stats are pretty weak as Newport have been given at least 1 card in 69.76% of their league games played this season and Scunthorpe in 79.06%. Scunthorpe have been given at least 1 card In all of their last 7 league games and they average 1.42 yellow cards per game in those 7 games. Newport have been given at least 1 card in all of their last 8 league games and they average 1.87 yellow cards per game in those games.

Bookings is a tricky market as both teams have improved and are picking up more cards in recent games, obviously this comes from the situation both teams find themselves in with Scunthorpe fighting to stay in the division and the play-offs still a very realistic possibility for Newport. The stats however are not strong enough to back bookings with full confidence.

There is no standout bet in this game.

Bradford vs Salford match preview

Bradford find themselves safe from the drop with the play-offs looking out of reach, though their situation could have been different if Bradford had not lost all of their last 4 league games. Salford find themselves just out of the play-offs looking in right now and anything less than a win has to be seen as a massive blow to their chances of extending their season.

Salford have won 4 of their last 6 league games and they scored 2 goals in each of those 4 wins. Salford have kept 3 clean sheets in a row now. Bradford have failed to score in 2 of their last 4 league games. Bradford have conceded in 11 of their last 13 league games and they conceded an average of 1.38 goals per game in those games. Whilst number of goals is risky to back, we do feel there is a good chance Salford will win this game by a relatively low score line of 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1. 4 of the last 5 games Salford have won they won by one of those score lines and all of the last 4 Bradford league games they lost by 1 of those score lines.

Salford only average 3.5 corners per game in their last 6 league games and Bradford only average 3.40 corners per game in their last 10 league games.  The season stats don’t suggest corners is a banker either so that looks a risky market.

Bradford were given no cards in their last league games but that was the first time in their last 20 league games that they ended a game with no bookings. In their last 20 league games Bradford average 1.80 yellow cards per game. Salford have been given at least 1 card in 16 of their last 17 league games and they average 2 yellow cards per game in those games. Its highly likely both teams pick up at least 1 card and the game will have 30+ match booking points.

The best bets in this game are

Salford to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

Cheltenham vs Carlisle match preview

Cheltenham find themselves needing just 1 more point to be guaranteed of promotion and Carlisle are pretty much at the must win stage now if they want to reach the play-offs as they find themselves 5 points off the pace right now with just 3 games left to play.

Cheltenham have won 10 of their last 15 league games, though their success hasn’t really been built on blowing teams away by scoring goals. In their last 15 league games Cheltenham have only scored more than 1 goal 4 times and have kept 9 clean sheets. So their defensive ability has really been what’s got them over the line in the back half of the season.

Carlisle are winless in their last 5 league games, having drawn 4 and lost 1. They will look at these last 5 games and wonder what might have been if they could have turned a couple of those draws into wins. Carlisle have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 league games and have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 8 league games. The real issue for Carlisle has been that they have only won 4 of their last 21 league games, they just haven’t picked up enough points in the 2nd half of the season. Whilst we wouldn’t want to call the total number of goals we feel there is a good chance it’s a low scoring game that Cheltenham just edge, so we feel there is a good chance that Cheltenham win this either 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.

Carlisle have been inconsistent with corners lately. In their last 8 league games they have taken 2 corners or less in 3 games, and then hit double figures on their own in 2 games. Cheltenham are more consistent but at a level that falls around 5 corners per game, and given that Carlisle can’t be trusted in full to take at least 3 corners, but also the fact that we can’t rule out Carlisle taking a high number of corners, we feel this makes corners an extremely difficult market to predict in this game.

Cheltenham average just 0.69 yellow cards per game in their last 13 league games. Carlisle average 1.55 yellow cards per game I their last 9 league games, but Cheltenham can’t really be trusted to pick up any cards at all and that makes bookings a tough market in this one.

The best bet in this game is

Cheltenham to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

Exeter vs Grimsby match preview

Exeter are on a horrible run that has seen them win just 2 of their last 11 league games and they have now fallen out of the play-off spots. Grimsby have only lost 2 of their last 12 league games, but they have only won 3 of those games and they still need a miracle to have any hope of staying up.

The last 3 Exeter league games have all finished 0-0 and with a side as out of form as Exeter playing the bottom side in Grimsby, it’s not an appealing game from a goals point of view.

Exeter have taken 3 or more corners in 10 of their last 12 league games and they average 5.16 corners per game in those last 12 games. Grimsby have taken 3 or more corners in all of their last 5 league games and they average 5.20 corners per game in those game. Though if you look back further Grimsby have taken just 2 corners or less in 7 of their last 17 league games, so they don’t appear a team to put full faith in when it comes to corners. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see both teams take at least 3 and the game to be pushing towards double figures as both teams should get forward and attack as a draw will relegate Grimsby and do Exeter no favours either.

Grimsby have been given 10 yellow cards and 1 red card in their last 4 league games and Exeter have been given at least 1 card in 5 of their last 6 league games, and they average 1.50 yellow card per game in those games. So it’s highly likely that both teams pick up at least 1 card and the game has 30+ match booking points.

The best bet in this game is

Forest Green vs Barrow match preview

Forest Green are in the play-off spots right now though know if they drop points there are a line of teams in behind them waiting to take their spot. Barrow are currently in the relegation places but have a game in hand on a few teams around them, and a win here would give their chances of survival a massive boost heading into their final 2 games.

Barrow have now lost all of their last 3 league games and they failed to score in any of those 3 games. Barrow have conceded in all of their last 10 league games and they conceded an average of 1.50 goals per game in those 10 games. Forest Green have only won 1 of their last 9 league games and have failed to score in 6 of those 9 league games. The last 2 Forest Green league games both finished 0-0. In terms of the number of goals it’s a difficult game to call as both sides are out of form. There is no bet we could confidently recommend on goals or the result of the match.

Barrow only average 3.62 corners per game in their last 8 league games and they have taken just 2 corners or less in 4 of those 8 league games. A pretty impressive stat is that Forest Green actually average 11.33 corners per game in their last 3 legaue games, after taking 19 corners against Scunthorpe and 11 against Crawley. Those stats obviously need a hefty pinch of salt but even if we look back further at the last 20 Forest Green league games they average 6.05 corners per game. The problem with corners is Barrow are very unpredictable, they have taken exactly 8 corners in 2 of their last 3 league games which means we couldn’t confidently back Forest Green to take the most corners, but then Barrow have taken 2 corners or less in 4 of their last 8 league games, so we couldn’t confidently back 3+ corners each team or total match corners either.

Barrow average 2.16 yellow cards per game in their last 6 league games having been given at least 1 card in all 6 of those games. Forest Green have been given at least 1 card in 10 of their last 11 league games and they average 1.36 yellow cards per game in those 11 games. The type of game this promises to be does bode well for card’s, with 2 out of form sides having to fight to try and save their season  this game could get very scrappy. Its highly likely both teams pick up at least 1 card and the game has 30+ match booking points.

The best bet in this game is  30+ match booking points
