Bayern Munich vs PSG match preview

This Looks a mouth watering clash, as  a repeat of last years final should. Bayern are the top scorers in this years competition and by quite a margin as they still have a 5 goal lead on Man City in that department and City played last night. PSG are no slouches when it comes to goals themselves and score an average of over 2 goals per game in this years competition. Goals look the standout betting market simply due to the players on show and the fact they have proven they will do it on the biggest stage. The real big 3 are Mbappe and Neymar for PSG then Lewandowski for Dortmund (though unfortunately Lewandowski will miss this game)

Kylian Mbappe has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in this season Champions League

Neymar has scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist

Lewandowski has scored 5 goals

These are 3 world class players who have all walked the walk and even with no Lewandowski if Mbappe and Neymar turn up we could be in for any number of goals. One of the interesting angles though is that both sides do have solid support players who whilst they might not be the big names that these 3 are, they still pitch in.

Kingsley Coman has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in this year Champions League

Moise Kean has come a long way from being subbed on and then straight off by Duncan Ferguson for Everton away at Old Trafford and has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in this years competition.

Leroy Sane is another with 3 goals and 1 assist in the competition this year.

There is star quality all over the field and both teams to score and over 2.5 goals both look very strong bets.

PSG did knock out Barcelona in the last 16 but its not the Barcelona side that we know with the club in a bad place right now as they lack consistency on the big stage and their star player and club legend Messi finds his future up in the air after he reportedly handed in a transfer request last summer and could again be the subject of a big transfer this summer. Despite winning the group PSG struggled more than they would have expected in a group that they would have expected to win with defeats against RB Leipzig and Man United nearly costing them top spot, though their goals difference made the difference in the end. Bayern’s only real test has come against Atletico Madrid and they beat them 4-0 at home and drew 1-1 away. Other than that Bayern haven’t really had to come out of 2nd gear and even the Atletico games have some question marks for me as Atletico were pretty comprehensively dispatched by Chelsea in the last 16 and Atletico are surely being distracted by the fact they have a real shot at winning La Liga this season and are helped by the fact that both their man rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona find themselves in tough patches for one reason or another.

Corners is another good market here though it would be no surprise if both teams too a slightly lower number than their averages suggest due to them taking on better opposition and finding their opponents tougher to break down and attacking opportunities harder to come by. 3+ corners each team looks the safe bet here with 4 or more each team also looking to have a good chance and it would be no surprise should the game see 8/9 corners and possibly go into double figures.

The stats suggest booking is a good market to go at here. With Bayern averaging 2 yellow cards per game in their 4 home Champions league games this season and PSG averaging 2.25 yellow cards per game in their 4 away games in this years competition. Though we should remember this is the first leg of the tie and PSG were given just 1 yellow card in the first leg of their last 16 tie with Barca and Bayern were given 2 in the first leg of their last 16 tie with Lazio. Its impossible to say there wont be cards as the stats suggest its likely and I will admit there is a good chance both teams et at least 1 player booked. I just feel the goals and corners are strong markets here and bookings is a risk that may not be worth taking at quite slim odds.

The standout bets to me here revolve around both teams to score, over 2.5 goals. 3/4 + corners each team, 9/10+ match corners and then some bets like a goal in each half and 3/4 + corners in each half also appeal.
