Denmark lost to Finland in their opening game 1-0, and in truth they were in complete control and looked to be about to score before Christian Eriksen collapsed and required urgent medical treatment (Thankfully he now looks to be in a stable condition and on the road to recovery). Coming back out to play, Denmark were understandably and clearly not right. Kasper Schmeichel let a soft header that was straight at him slip through and then Denmark went on to miss a penalty as well. Denmark had 22 shots in the game with 6 of them finding the target, they had 70% possession, taking 9 corners and receiving no cards. Belgium beat Russia 3-0 in a comfortable win, having 67% possession, with 9 shots, 4 on target, 2 corners and no cards.
The referee for this game is Bjorn Kuipers (Holland), this season he has taken charge of 32 games, awarding 75 yellow cards and 4 red cards, for an average of 2.34 yellow cards per game and 0.12 red cards per game. In his career to date he has refereed 255 games, handing out 832 yellow cards and 39 red cards, for an average of 3.26 yellow cards per game and 0.15 red cards per game.
I see this being quite a cagey game, the difference between a draw and loss her for Belgium is huge with best third place finish qualifying positions up for grabs. I imagine they will set up to be tough to beat and hope that a set piece or counter attack will present them with an opportunity to score a goal. They will need to be much more efficient in front of goal as its hard to see them having 22 shots in this game like they did against Finland. I fell Belgium will win this game and secure themselves a spot in the knock out stages, Denmark will have to open up and attack at some point in this game, especially if Belgium take the lead, and when they do open up this Belgium side can prove deadly on the counter. I see Denmark playing with allot of pride and making a good go of it, but Belgium will prove too classy and catch them on the break as they press forward in desperation to secure a 2-0 or 3-0 win.
